“What should I wear to the gym today?” I asked myself standing in front of the mirror. I am sure many of you go through the same struggle every day and it got me thinking, there should be fixed section of clothes completely dedicated to gym in every girl’s wardrobe. Wearing right clothes to the gym is as important as working out.
Many people don’t know what type of clothes to pick for gym. Here are few tips that I personally follow while choosing gym wear:
- Keep it Simple and Comfortable
Gym wear should be stretchable and comfortable to wear. Your clothes should not get in the way of your workout. Do not wear too many layers of clothes. Wear flexible fabric to the gym. Shorts provide the most flexibility, so I always prefer wearing shorts while working out. - No Tight Clothes or Loose T-Shirts
Find right fitting t-shirts and pants for gym because wearing tight clothes can create discomfort during workout. Similarly baggy T-shirts may feel very comfortable to wear, but can be little risky as there is a chance that it can get stuck in the machine. - No Jeans
My heart cringes when I see people working out wearing Jeans. BIG NO guys! You are doing no good to your body by wearing jeans to the gym. The fabric is not flexible enough, will be very heavy after absorbing all the sweat and can be really uncomfortable during workout. Not to mention the rashes and pain caused thereafter! - Pick the Right Fabric
Quick drying synthetics and light weighted clothes are preferred while working out. Many are under the misconception that cotton clothes are better option as it absorbs sweat, but this can be a disadvantage too, as cotton will suck in all your sweat and make the T-shirt heavy and sticky on the body. - Right Footwear
Pick shoes that fit you perfectly and provide the support you need for different workouts. For e.g. using running shoes is a bad idea if you are doing cross-training as they don’t have any lateral support.
